One summer for a week visit during the summer and time of putting up hay, Doyn was driving the tractor and I was on the wagon stacking the hay bales, what proceeded during that time was the most misserable time of my life. Little did I know that I had allergies to hay. My nose was running faster than the tractor was moving I yelled to Doyn slow down she yelled back I'm can't go any slower in first gear throttle on the lowest setting. I still have a vivid visual memory of that moment indellibly imprinted upon my heart may soul and my mind. I was therefore doomed never to be a farmer for a farmer has animals and animals eat hay. One other memmory was a day when Buck the horse was acting up, went in memtioned this to doyn she said he was bruising for a cruising(my words she said something cant remember what) she went out that kitchen grabbed a straw broom got on that horse, rode him as fast as he would run she the meanwhile whacking him on the hindquarters with that broom back and forth to the barn a couple of times, screeched to a halt got off him handed me the rains and said I dont think he will act up now. I did my best that week not to make her mad at me, she had more grit than a lot of men i've known over the years. I asked her a while back out of two plow horses why she picked a certain one to plow up her potatoes (this was the first time i have ever seen anyone use a horse to plow with-what a memory) she answered problaly one would respond to hee or haw (i think that is what she said). Our generation has got it easy, we dont know what sun up to sun down is like taking care of animals and crops my hat is off to this generation wev'e lost a lot. Edward Muntz
