Obituary for Keith Ray

Harold Keith Ray, age 87, of Rock Port, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021. He was the son of Harold Edwin and Cecile Aldeen (Davis) Ray, born on November 21, 1933, in the Southeast Dale Township, Atchison County, Missouri.

Keith attended Spring Valley School, Elk Dale School, and later Fairfax High School. After high school, Keith began farming and feeding cattle. Horses were the piece of the farm that he took part in for the long haul. Throughout his life, he always kept a horse on the farm that was his. After farming for many years, he later switched gears and started working in the trucking industry as the owner/operator of Keith Ray Trucking for 35 years. Throughout his career, Keith logged millions of miles and enjoyed meeting and visiting with fellow truck drivers and buddies. He loved traveling across the country in his Kenworth, driving his pickup to go drink coffee with friends, visiting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and always wanting to take them in the truck with him. Keith loved to share his memories with everyone. He was always loaded with a good story.

Keith is survived by his two sons, Scott (Bonnie) Ray, Fairfax, MO and Kent (Janice) Ray, Fairfax; granddaughter, Jessica (Lance) Murry and great granddaughter Ava, Hickman, NE; granddaughter Jennifer (Brandon) Peregrine and great grandchildren Bo, Jax, Jorja, and Bennett, Tarkio, MO; grandson Harold (Jessica) Ray and great granddaughters Madison and Sadie, Savannah, MO; special friend, Betty Henry, Rock Port, MO; 6 siblings, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his former spouse, Deanie Jo Ray; his parents; and his brother, Marion Ray.

Keith was a member of the Fairfax United Methodist Church, North Star Lodge #157, St. Joseph Scotish Rite, Molia Shrine Temple (Mounted Patrol Unit), and Maryville Elks Lodge. Keith received his 50 Year Membership pin from North Star Lodge.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax. Graveside service and interment 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, near Fairfax.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals or the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).

Friends may call after 9 AM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
