Kenneth Mark Brandon, 67, Big Lake Village, MO, departed this life Friday, February 25, 2022, in the St. Luke’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. He was born March 19, 1954, to Daisy Marguerite (Cunningham) & William “Bill” James Brandon, II, at a hospital in Mound City, MO - the first of only two born there. He was a livelong resident of Big Lake Village. He was a member of the Big Lake Baptist Church. On August 11, 2003, he and Melanie Wright, who survives of the home, were married at the New Liberty Baptist Church, Mound City, MO.
Mark graduated from Mound City High School in 1972. Following graduation, he attended Missouri Western State College, and afterward worked for several concrete and paving companies operating various heavy equipment. Later, he owned his own bulldozing and excavator service, as well as raised and moved houses.
Mark was multi-talented and gifted which enabled him to touch many lives. He was passionate about flying his own planes as well as playing piano over 50 years for the Big Lake Baptist Church. Additionally, he served as chairman on the Big Lake Village Board many years and was honored by induction into the Holt County Music Hall of Fame in 2017. His mechanical and mathematical abilities astonished many as he could do almost anything. Special hobbies included building and driving hotrods, dune buggies, and many other “cool” vehicles. The “Brown Hound” had a reputation of its own.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by brothers, William Brandon, III, and Robert Brandon.
Other survivors besides his devoted wife, Melanie, include: daughter, Jennifer (Mitch) Jensen; son, Justin (Cassie) Brandon; grandchildren: Mason, Kimber, Waylon Jensen; Adlee & Addison Brandon. Nieces and nephews: Tyson Brandon, Brandee (Chris) Davison, Camdyn, Bristol, Londyn Davison and William Brandon IV; Garrett, Ava, Lilli Barnes; Britney (Wright) Vogelsberg, Blade, Bentley, Brett Wright; and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Big Lake Baptist Church, Big Lake Village where family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the New Liberty Cemetery, Mound City, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Lake Baptist Church, 213 Lake Shore Drive, Craig, MO 64437.
Face masks are recommended for the service.
