Obituary for Leanna Maxine McClain (Dickey)

Leanna McClain, age 74, formerly of Grant City, Missouri died September 1, 2021, at the St. Joseph Chateau, St. Joseph, Missouri.
Leanna was born November 10, 1946, in Maryville, Missouri. She was the daughter of Earl (Bud) and Mildred Maxine (King) Dickey.

Leanna grew up on the family farm, where she loved helping her “Daddy” and mom with all the chores and activities. Her favorite thing to do was baling hay and taking care of all the farm animals. She also liked driving her 1957 Chevy really fast.

Leanna was a graduate of Worth County R-I High School, class of 1964.

She was a member of the Grant City Christian Church and had been a member of Rainbow Girls.

Leanna will be remembered for some of the family stories she told and sayings that she often said. Such as, “I’ll be okay” and “I do not know”.

She was united in marriage to Lieutenant Colonel Claude McClain, Sr. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Bruce Lester Dickey and a cousin Dean Rote.

Her survivors include sons, Buddy Lester (Carolyn) Hall, Grant City, Claude Clinton McClain, III, St. Joseph, daughter, Claudia Maxine McClain, Sacramento, Califorina, granddaughter Brittany (Michael) McClain, Platte City, Missouri, grandson Shai
Bozart, St. Joseph, a Cousin Phyllis Rote, Perry, Iowa, and special family friends, Don (Diane) Zollman and Kevin (Jeannie) Fletchall and many furry friends especially Rosco.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Andrews-Hann Funeral Home, Grant City, where the family will receive friends 5-7 PM, Tuesday, September 7. Burial will be in the Honey Grove Cemetery, Grant City. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 AM, Tuesday morning.
