Mary Catherine Ewing, age 83, Grant City, died May 6, 2015 at the Worth County Convalescent Center in Grant City.
Mary was born March 19, 1932 in Lepanto, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Steve W. and Mildred Athlene (Short) Lipsmeyer. Mary was united in marriage to John Lindsay Ewing.

Mary was a graduate of Gideon High School, Gideon, Missouri and attended South East Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Mary had been a parochial Elementary and High School Principal at Portageville, Missouri. After retirement she also was a substitute teacher for the Worth County R-3 School District, Grant City.

Mary was a homemaker and an active member of the community being involved in PEO, Fine Arts Council, FSA Committee and on the Board of Directors of Northwest Medical Center.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother and sister and one granddaughter.

Survivors include: Husband John of the home, Grant City; son Larry (Cathy) Kitchen, St. Louis, Missouri, daughter Julia (Derrell) Cox, Grant City, three step-sons, John B. (Karin) Ewing, Kansas City, Missouri, David (Anne) Ewing, Portland, Oregon, Alex (Ellen) Ewing, St. Louis; one sister Helen Floyd, Piedmont, Missouri; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
