Obituary for Mitch Griffey

Paul Mitchell “Mitch” Griffey, age 69, of Fairfax, Missouri died Saturday,
June 11, 2022, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri.

Mitch was born October 8, 1952, in Fremont, Nebraska, to Smiley Fay and Bernice Griffey. The youngest of four children, he was born four hours later than his twin brother, Phillip Michael.

Mitch went to school and graduated from high school in Nebraska. After graduation he started driving as an independent over the road truck driver. Mitch drove thousands of miles before he retired.

He was united in marriage to Judy Swenson on March 20, 1987, in Fairfax. He became Judy’s husband and the father to her three children.

Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, wife Judy (2016), twin brother Mike Griffey (2020), and a sister Edith “Babe” Hast (2021).

His survivors include: one sister Lorrie Griffey-Cobb, Omaha, Nebraska, stepchildren and their families, nieces, nephews, and a host of other friends and loved ones.

Per Mr. Griffey’s request his body has been cremated under the care of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax. There will be no services held. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
