Sandra Lee McCurdy, age 83, Fairfax, Missouri, died Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care as a result of a cancerous brain tumor.
Sandra was born November 21, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Otto and Myrtle (Hansen) Wesenberg.
Sandra was a graduate of Gretna High School, Class of 1955, Gretna, Nebraska.
She was united in marriage to James Edwin McCurdy, Sr. on September 1, 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska.
They had made there home in Fairfax for over twenty years. After James died on July 9, 2018, Sandra continued to live on the farm until two days prior to her death.
Before her retirement Sandra work at the Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, Ashland, Nebraska. After retiring she and her husband moved to Fairfax, Missouri. Sandra enjoyed being active in the community as she was a part of the Fairfax Community Hospital Auxiliary (serving as past president) and the Atchison County Piece Makers Quilt Guild both of Fairfax.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, and two brothers Dean and Robert (Bud) Wesenberg.
Her survivors include two sons, James (Pam Hirschmann) McCurdy, Jr. Lincoln, Nebraska,
Brian (Diane Rico) McCurdy, Ashland, Nebraska, two daughters, Tammy (David Hans) Tyler, Denton, Nebraska, Lori Estes, Fairfax, Missouri, six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one sister Patricia Krambeck, Kansas City, Kansas and a host of other friends and loved ones.
Per Mrs. McCurdy’s request her body has been cremated. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax and Craig.
