It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William H. Bowlin, 93 years old, on September 29, 2023, in Kansas City, MO. He was surrounded by his loving family.

William was born on July 30, 1930, in Worth County, MO to Hazel Mabel (Pickering) and Henderson Wakefield Bowlin. He grew up in NW Missouri helping with the family farm and graduated college with a Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology-Rolla. After working for others as a civil engineer, he decided it was time to pursue his own dreams and took a risk on his entrepreneurial skills and opened his own commercial insulation business.

He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Stephanie Miller, Stanley & Cheryl Bowlin, Suzanne Bowlin, Sandra & Alan Luckcuck and Sonya & Bill Downs. His surviving grandchildren and their spouses are David & Mary Miller, Max Miller, Kyle Downs, Matthew & Shelby Downs, Rachel Luckcuck, Lexie Luckcuck and Skyler Bowlin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Mae (Stabe) Bowlin and his sister, Betty Bernice (Bowlin) Havner.

He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a hardworking, humble man who had a love for genealogy and traced his and Cora's roots back to the 1500's. He enjoyed family reunions and researching the history of his family by visiting family and genealogy research libraries. He always encouraged family bonds and tried to make the Pickering reunion every year, his mother was a Pickering.

He served in the Army as a 1st Lieutenant from 1952 to 1954 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He and Cora spent 2 years in France where they made lifelong friends, and he remembered his service fondly as he helped rebuild infrastructure in France. William trained at Fort Lewis, Washington during the Korean War period. He was also an early adopter of personal computers. He purchased one of the first personal computers Radio Shack TRS-80, he learned to write code he used in his business over the years as technology progressed, he was on trend faster than more powerful companies. In the end he went through 22 personal computers.
